First Annual Kisco 5K!
Local runners and businesses partner up to organize 5K road race
This year there’s a new way to warm up for your sidewalk sales shopping. As running and a conscious, healthy lifestyle have been becoming more popular, annual races have been springing up all over Westchester. These races bring a fantastic sense of community and accomplishment, and often designate proceeds to important causes and organizations. This year Mt. Kisco is jumping on board with our very own 5K.
The race starts at 8:00am this Sunday, September 21st at the Mt. Kisco train station. If you’re interested in running, or watching, show up closer to 7:30 so you’re actually at the starting line when the gun goes off. The course is a straight shot down Lexington Avenue to the second traffic light, turn and run past the post office to the end of Radio Circle Drive, and then back up the way you come. Make sure you say hi when you pass the gym! The whole 5k (3.1 miles) takes about 20 minutes to an hour, so you’ll have plenty of time to freshen up before you check out the rest of the weekend’s festivities.
You don’t need to be super competitive or super fast to have fun at a 5K. While some runners are in it to win it, there are plenty of people in it for the exercise, and plenty more just there to get outside and be part of the community. To learn more or register today, visit www.kiscorun.com.
